What is a grip tab?

In the world of adhesive tape, you come across the grip tab again and again. But what is it actually, what do you need it for and what length can you have?

The grip tab

The grip tab on a self-adhesive molded part is an additional grip area made of, for example, a protruding liner. This protrudes beyond the contour of the adhesive tape, which makes it much easier to detach the molded part from the backing or cover liner during the joining process.

The production of grip tabs

There are different ways of producing a grip tab. For example, it can be prefabricated and manually bonded to the molded part. Standard tabs are available in different sizes and lengths. These are applied over the entire surface of the liner.

Individual production

through converting

We can also integrate the tab into our converting process, where no standard dimensions are available. Individual production is therefore very flexible, as we can produce not only the length, but also the position or number of grip tabs according to the customer's wishes.

Multiple grip tabs

in one process

If two or more grip tabs are required on a molded part, this can be done by a liner exchange, for example. This allows us to individualize the molded part better and adapt it to the process at our customers. The tabs on the same molded part can even have different lengths.
